I raked the entire yard yesterday in 6 hours - some kind of record I am sure - and calibrated a bunch of grippers tonight before the back workout. So I was happy with just getting through the step ladder deadlift workout - 525x1,2,3,4,5. Easiest set was the last one. I finished the back off with 5x10 pullups on the 4" posts.
I think I have a new grip plan forming. The idea is to take a break from regular grippers but not take a grip from crush training. I am going to to 8x2 with a 5/8" Beginnner on M-F in the morning just for active recovery and to trick my hand into thinking that is "normal". Monday night will be holds and negatives on the Secret Weapon or Go-Really-Grip, alternating every week. Friday will be BTR RB Adjustable alternating deep set negatives one week and TNS negatives the next. I am not possitive on the Friday workout. Tonight I tried this out and I still have trouble doing negatives with a BTR gripper because I am so much stronger after the gripper comes back to the normal ROM. I have to go heavy enough to make myself work but sometimes this is too heavy to get a good solid close. However, I did some of this tonight and instead of focussing on the touch just made sure I was forcing to beyond the range. After what I thought was a wasted workout I grabbed my MM6 and did an easy negative - which tells me the work with the adjustable was working even if not touching at the start of the neg. I finished up grip with holds and negatives with the GRG, 10 sets up to 165 on the top end. Then hit some supinating wrist curls with 1x10x60 at the top end. This is an exercise that I am starting to get very strong at and is great for building the distal bicep tendon, and forearm and bicep development.
Gripper Abbreviations
1BN = One Big Negative (gripper is held forced shut for 2 seconds then released until the hand can hold it, then repeated); FS = Fold Set (gripper is slightly set with off hand then thumb shoved forward and hand "folded" to "set" the gripper); SGS = Steve Gardener set; WGS = wide set with no pause; TNS = table-top no-set; CCS = credit card set; MMS = parallel set; BTR = shaved gripper; N# = negative held for # seconds; C# = choker set to # of mm; OC# = isometric hold for # seconds; S# = gripper set to # of mm and released; PKS = set to parallel and pause, then close; FS = fold set - fold hand up - very easy for me to set this way but hard to finish
